I've just joined ProwlTalk. I'll be honest, Im not a Prowler enthusiast per se. I like classic cars, street rods, and the new wave of faux street rods like the Prowler. I own a 2001 Black-Tie Prowler #139, among other classic cars, and chopped street rods. I'm a litigator in NYC (but I do not live in the city). I specialize in comercial litigation, white collar and civil fraud defense, and Intellectual Property litigation.

I joined ProwlTalk beause I wanted to learn more about the public's interest in Prowlers. I haven't used my Black-Tie that much, but I do not want to sell it if it has the potential of increasing in value over time. Does anyone have any thoughts on keeping versus selling if the Prowler is not being used. Thanks.

Hi Vin,

Welcome to the club....

we all like to see new members join and especially ones that are not afraid to post...

you have a real collectible with the Black Tie model. the Woodward has the same production number and other than the one-off Electric blue, they are the rarest.... You probably know this...

Value wise...I think the black tie will be the most sought after Prowler in the future. Right now we see one come up for sale once and a while. If the Prowler is an investment for you then I would suggest not driving it very much at all. The fewer the miles on it the more its going to be worth. however I think any vehile needs to be taken out from time to time to keep thinks working and avoid seals and other lubricated items from drying up and cracking. Prices in the US seem to be quite low in my opinion, I think they should be at the $44-45,000 range, original MSRP , In Canada they are very close to the $64,000 mark that they sold for off the lots. This of course depends on the mileage. My guess is that in 10 years they will be selling at the 100 G mark for low mileage Prowlers.

These are just my thoughts, others should have some ideas to add to this..

really though ... there is no value on the fun factor I get out of cruising in the Kat.... I'd say drive the hell out of it... and have a blast...

Welcome, Some will say you would be better off invensting your money elsewhere and I would agree If this is only "another car" to you.

I love to drive mine as often as possible and find it far more enjoyable when it is out with other fellow Prowler owners. The Prowler owner get togethers and cruises are the best part of ownership in my opinion.

The Prowler will someday turn into a real collector commanding far more than MSRP, I'm just not sure if that is 10, 20 or 30 more years to get there.

Ideally I wish I could afford more than one.

Yeah, buy it, drive it cause you like it. It will depreciate zero - or close to it. But as far as appreciating for making money's sake ... probably better options out there.

I think there's enought low milege kats out there that will keep prices 'affordable' for a while. Cars are meant to be driven...my IRA does better returns than the Kats...

p.s. also consider insurance, registration, maintenance..it all adds up
