Jim - U R right,,,,shipping would be brutal from Florida to your door. Buy It Now is about what they sold for new,,,as I recall. Seen the one at SEMA show,,,,that M & L had there,,,,,,looked pretty good, but you have to remove the soft top to install >>> that to me, kill'd any thoughts of it.

I have bid what i would pay for a new regular hardtop.... and it didn't meet the reserve price so I'm hesitant about going any higher. A friend can pick it up and get it as far as NC for me then crate it.

I thought you only had to remove the Trunk deck... the entire convertible top has to be removed ?

My intention was to only use it for shows and long trips.... Think about it.. its the price of a trailer...

Jim, It would be unique for sure, having that hearse look with all that hell fire and skulls not to mention the graveyard under the hood!

I personally would do the hardtop, I like the coupe look and you don't have to mess with the deck lid and convert. top.

I'm sure the M&L top would be cool when your done with it though.

Didn't realize it was in florida. Yeah - I'd go pick it up for you.

Sounds to me that to use this, you remove the rear deck lid. I'm not sure if I like it or not. If they would have had it painted same color to match, it would give me a better idea.

Sounds to me if you go this route, you're eliminating the convertible aspect of the prowler, as I'm thinking to go back and forth would be QUITE time consuming.

I'm not likely to get it, I've reached my threshold of pain with my max bid and haven't even met reserve. something has to be done with the look from the side.... I'm not crazy about the area behind the side window glass, some airbrush work or vent type of idea could be an improvement.

also there is no headliner... another negative. I would not be willing to give up the convertible so if the changeover is to painfull, then I'm not cool with it.

the plus would be the shock factor at the car shows if it were done up right....

realisticly, this one will probably pass me by...

Also, without seeing it in person, not knowing how well it seals, etc..... personally I think you're making the right decision. If it could be had for say under $2500, then I'd think it would be worth the thought.

Painting it up properly with your scheme could be QUITE NICE, but I think there are too many potential downsides. Still thinking the long run that the normal hardtop is what's going to work best fr you.

t's Hard To Top The Exotic Prowler But What Would You Expect? It's A Removable Delivery Top!
Las Vegas - One of the most striking - and unexpected - specialty vehicles featured at the 2000 SEMA Show here is an exotic 2001 Prowler with a removable hard top converting it into a classic sedan delivery style vehicle - sort of an ultra-high-performance version of the popular Chrysler PT Cruiser.

"We took a look at the new PT Cruiser - its style and utility -- and decided to design the same flavor and feel into a high-performance Prowler, another look at a classic rendition of a popular American hot rod, the Delivery, a real icon of character," said Mark Gerisch, project designer and coordinator for M&L Automotive.

M&L designed a removable aluminum hard top that fits neatly over the cockpit and rear deck of the Prowler, instantly converting the distinctive, low-slung street-rod from a classic hot-rod roadster to a distinctive, low-slung classic hot-rod panel truck.

The hard top, which M&L intends to introduce to the aftermarket, adds tremendously to the flexibility and usability of the Prowler, added storage, and more drivability for earlier in the year and later in the fall (if you're not lucky enough to live in the sun year around). It adds approximately 12 cubic feet of storage space, that is otherwise nonexistent. In all, this adds a a new dimension of style and performance to the Prowler.

The top is installed by first unbolting the clam shell trunk, unbolting and removing the soft top, then bolting on the top, which has a roll bar. It locks into the A pillars using the same connectors as the soft top. Side and rear connectors are integrated into the top giving you a sealing surface all the way around, completing the installation in less than an hour, maybe a little longer your first time.

The display vehicle is located right out front of the main entrance doors of the convention center.

The only other enhancements are a Borla exhaust system and BBS Wheels. The Removable Delivery Top is available through M&L Automotive in Manitowoc, WI for $5,800.00

Yes, the soft top has to come off.

Yeah, so now you got to remove not only the deck lid, but also the convertible top ....

Nice for a specialty show car - but for using your prowler all the time, my vote is No.

That's why in my earlier post I stated that I would go the hardtop route (TGF).

The M&L requires you to remove the deck lid and convert. top. I wouldn't mind the deck lid but messing with my top and hoping to get it adjusted right to seal again, don't think so!
