Not really an event, but an invitation none the less.
Nikki and I plan to cruise Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. This will be around the first and second week in August. All Prowltalk friends are welcome to join us.
If you are a long distance away and can't handle the drive here you may want to fly out and rent a car for the trip. If anyone is interested just let me know. Accomodations will have to be booked in advance.

Jim, How are the roads in your part of the country.
We plan on moving south and it would be nice to visit before we make the move to a warmer climate. Probably making the move in 2008 once my youngest graduates high school.

hey Paul,
The conditions change from year to year.... it depends on what kind of winter we have. I know they are re-paving parts of the cabot trail this year. I will probably scout out the roads ahead of time in the PT cruiser just so there are no big surprizes...
come on down !

Fast Eddie Monahan and his neighborhood friends get in a little cycling practice just before their long trek to Halifax.
Unfortunately Eddie is a little upset that his bike is Inca Gold and NOT Hot Pink!

I was just reading my post above and realized that we'll have two more summers here in NH, at least. We won't be making the move until 2009.
Three more winters to endure
More cruising with the NE group :D

Jim, I would like to find out more on the accommodations and costs.
Sure would like to take a vacation this year. Haven't taken a real one in 4 or 5 years, just long weekends here and there.

Hey Paul,
Here is a link to check out....
http://www.capebretonresorts.com/glenghorm_tab1.asp
its the best option I've been able to find. I would be willing to split on the 2 bedroom cottage if you wish or you can get your own. This area is a great spot to use as a home base for day cruises.
my first week of vacation has been changed, it now looks as though I will have from the Aug 4th to the 19th. I will know more Monday...
I also have the use of a cottage on the ocean near my home for free. the owner usually comes here for 1 week in the summer , but the rest of the time its mine.

We will keep updating you on how this will work out timing and $$ wise for us. We will know more after April 15th.
I've also got to figure out how far per day we will get to. It takes 3 hrs to get to Bangor ME, so it's almost that much to get to the Canadian border. I think you said it's an 8 hr drive from there to your house. Makes 14hrs of hauling ass. I've done that many in the kat in a day but I don't think the wife will go for it, plus that was not pulling the trailer.
worst case we pack the tent and sleeping bags to save $$, lol.

you may want to check out this option... its not cheap but its fast...
saves the long haul drive...Yarmouth is 2.5 hours drive to Halifax...

Jim, thanks for the link but I prefer to keep my wheels on solid ground.
Great option for others if they need to cut time or don't like long days behind the wheel. You're right about pricey though. Vehicle fare plus passenger fare plus fuel surcharge plus security fee.
Sounds like: arm, leg and maybe a right nut too, lol.

If they included the passenger fees in the price for the vehicle it wouldn't be so bad....
I will probably know when the cottage will be available in June and thats a freebie...8-)

Hi Folks,
Unfortunately my entire vacation has been canceled, or at least delayed until November or December... developments at work have left us with no one to take over my duties and closing down while i'm away is not an option. This is not my company, I am just a Customer Service Rep, but the products I sell are very specialized. I am searching for new employment and may get time off during a transition...its a long shot, but possible.
I do get my weekends off, so if Brian and Paul do make it here we will have a chance to have some laughs and tell some stories.....and of course cruise around and frighten the natives.
:devil
Everyone is still welcome anytime to visit, and my door is always open to my Prowltalk friends...

Jim, Sorry to hear about your vacation time. We still plan on getting up there sometime before we move south.
My work (construction) schedules have ruined my plans this summer too, I wanted to go to Woodward but I have a 6 bath home that needs to be finished that week (move in date is the 15th).
We'll have to make sure to fit the visit in next summer for sure.
PS: Pepe, I'll need a job when we move south. How far from Knoxville are you? Pool boy sounds good, LOL

Sounds good Paul...
Next year I'm going to insist on 2 weeks off in a row during August and I will use this years dissapointment to get what I want....Maybe by then there will be a few others that will find their way up here as well....
the weather has really turned out nice... 90 degrees, 46% humidity... cooled down to 60 degrees last night...

Jim,
I'm still trying to convince my wife for maybe a weekend in Sept. or Oct. I agree with Paul...don't think my wife would want to drive 14 hours straight.
If she decides she doesn't want to go...I'm still trying to work out my schedule to make it up to see you this year. Too bad Paul and Cindy can't travel with us.:frown:
I really didn't want to wait until next year where I would have to deal with that passport crap.
Let me keep working on my schedule and sweet talking my better half. Flowers work real well!
