I will pay the paypal fees myself and not deduct them from the shipping money I collect.....this will be of some help.

I'm going to go through the member list and send a blanket pm letting them know that we have some calendars for sale with links to the threads ... this will help us sell the remained of the order....

I will not send them to everyone, just ones that I recognize.

Is the price 18.38 shipped or plus shipping. I see a few posts that say the dollar amounts they are sending, but they only come up to about $19.00 each that way. ($76.00) for four? Just want to make sure I send the correct amount.

This is Pat's take on the calendars . . . .

I would say "yes" on the quality of the calendar (materials & pics).

but "no" on the limited options to make them more personal.
It would have been nice to have a description below the picture referring to either location or name of owner.

I didn't care for the way they decided on cropping some of the pics and specifically our picture that was so nicely modified by Jenn for us prior to submitting. They cropped 1/3 of the pic. The website stated it is necessary to make them all standard size for the calendar which I can understand, but they also state that if by doing so they lose more than 20% of the picture they will include all the picture and put white background to fill in, which they didn't do and it also looks like they cropped off part of two or three of the other cars, so in my opinion they didn't do a good job on that part.

Check out Jul 2007, this is what was submitted:
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a334/halicat/PumpkinZZ.jpg

Another thing Norm pointed out, it would have been nice to have a cover page that stated it was a 2007-2008 calendar, maybe printed above the picture of the car would have worked.

Otherwise, it is great. We appreciate all the hard work getting this organized.

I wouldn't sell this for a million dollars

well . . . . . . .

but I'm glad we got them.

I think the calenders look great, and are the best quality Prowler calender I've seen in a long time maybe ever. It's just great. I too was disapointed in the photo hack job that they did on a few photos. They wanted high res photos, and that's what they got, I guess mine were a little too high. Either way I wouldn't let that keep me from getting one. I'm very happy with them!

Ron

I understand fully and it seemed no mater how hard i tried to get everything in, it just wouldn't co-operate....those who let me choose between more than one picture gave me the option to pick the shot that fit in the frame best but not always the picture that i thought was the nicest.

I tried everything i could but for some reason I couldn't get the sign and the front wheel in your shot....I also had trouble with Dusti's shot....it kept cutting off the back corner of the mustang and the prowler.. it seemed that the only way I could get some of these to fit was to exclude the border and the the www.prowltalk.com . Then it looked so plain.

In the end it was the best I could do with what I had. I would have loved to have the control you can get with a local print shop like approving proofs, but that option was much more expensive, unless we bought 1000 units.
I can't wait till i get mine so i can see for myself how the end product turned out....

Thanks for your honest opinions....

Overall I like it! The the overall quality is excellent. And I agree that some pics were cropped and would definitely feel for those whose cropping went too far.

I believe most folks edited/enhanced the pics prior to submission and to ensure no cropping in future, the borders can be added prior to uploading to Shutterfly for printing. Someone volunteer to do the borders next time with the personalized text?

As with everything else, it can only get better with experience! I think Jimbo did a great job!

I have not seen the 'other' calendars produced previously..but I give :tu: for this non-professional production!

I got mine today! Absolutely thrilled with the quality. No negatives from me at all . . I like everything about them. Thank you so much for putting this together, Jim.

One thing we all are kinda overlooking, is that a lot of us waited until the very last minute to get pictures to you. You were really patient with us, and that forced you into a situation where you had no time to go through the learning curve to add all the "It would have been nice if we could have . . . " stuff. Next time we''ll come up with a deadline that gives you a week or two to put it together, instead of four hours on a Sunday morning at the "best price/free shipping" deadline. If you have leadtime next time around, I'll volunteer our photo shop guys to clean up all the pictures and handle the border layouts. But, honestly, these calendars look great as is! Thanks Jim and David! :bows

halicat

Thanks Scot,

What you say is true, The last 2 weeks before the deadline i pretty much came home from work and worked on the project untill i went to bed. Did I struggle over the cropping issue ? you bet !.....
Unfortunatly I am a victim of my lack of computer knowledge. In the end, 11th hour, I had to go with what I had, and hoped it worked out for the best.
I am not complaining at all... it was a fun project and achieved exactly what it set out to do, raise some money for the site, and give us a 18 month reminder of how well we all work and get along together.

In May, David was thinking about calling it quits... pulling the plug on Prowltalk because of lack of participation. We all spoke up, and he kept it going at 100% expense to himself. All of you that know me, must have me figured out by now, I like a challenge. I live for this shit, I didn't get banned from Camelot because of inaction, it was because I was not willing to sit back and watch my friends get trounced..... just as i was not willing to sit back and watch Prowltalk dissapear and become a private joke on the other side of town.

Look at us now !...
we set a record for most people on the site at one time .... 40 on October 5th !!
We have a bunch of new members.....
people are posting more often .....
we are alive and well.....

I need all comments, positive and negative.... offers like Scots will make the next project even better.....

Jim, I think they turned out great. Your hard work is much appreciated. I am proud to have had the opportunity to be included in this project.

My son had some of his buddies over the other day and he showed them the calendar. They thought it was cool that I had my kat shown in the calendar.

Thanks.

I didn't notice the cropping they have done until y'all brought it up and that SURE is unfortunate, ESPECIALLY after all the work Jimbo has put into this project - HOWEVER, I STILL think the calendars are great, excellent quality and just an OVERALL cool thing to have and share !

I'm VERY happy with the calendars....... and we all gotta remember 'This is IT' for this year... and I got awful cranky this last year without a calendar to look at! LOL

Thanks for the hard work, and while I DO appreciate the 'difference' in the pic submitted/used in Norm/Pat's example, I also understand the 'wall' you're up against when trying to work with pics..... it's tough!

Usually, when the going gets tough, the tough use duct tape, but in this case, that doesn't help :(

Only thing I need is THREE more please???? Thanks.

i don't have mine yet...

could someone have a look at theirs and tell me how many of the 18 cars have any parts of the car that are not in the picture...???

curiosity is killing me.

my final views before submitting did not show that any parts of any cars were being cropped out...the only one that i wasn't happy with was that i couldn't get the sign in on pumpkins. even Dusti's looked close but appeared to have everything in...

10-07-2006, 07:45 AM
It's just a small portion of the front right and left rear tire on my picture. Nothing major missing. It's still a damn nice calender, and wouldn't stop me from buying one.

halicat

The next time we will anticipate the crop and add our own borders as Scot had mentioned... as long as they don't crop off the borders.
You would think they could email me a digital copy to approved before printing.

Krzy Kat
10-07-2006, 08:10 AM
Wow - yes, I'm surprised by that, I would have assumed you knew of any cropping issues before going to production. So they actually cropped more than you had antiicipated and didn't send you a proof (even be it digital) before printing 125 of these? ... that's too bad.

We live, we learn

I just checked the Shutterfly site and it does show that Rons and TY-K's car having cropped parts but not any other vehicle...
Pumpkins seems to have the scenery cropped off but no actual parts of the car... i must have missed these facts when i was submitting the order.

Hey Jim, I'm looking at it now . . . Yes, Ty-k, Ron's and Norm's sign (but none of the car) have been cropped. Then, George's cover car is slightly cropped on both ends. Dusti's looks fine, maybe the very tip of the Prowler right bumper is cropped a little, but it fades right into the border and looks fine. Otherwise, all cars are complete.

I just checked the thread where i posted all the final pictures, it seems that every photo lost about the same amount of edge.. this could have been a function of the border.... i'm not sure... Kens seemed to take the biggest cut.... he must be dissapointed... as am I...

I think its time to stop kicking the mule about this....

With all of the calendars sold out, and my offer to refund anyone that is unhappy with their purchases....we are going to have to chalk this up to experience and move on.

Please email me with any requests to refund within a week after you get your order. I need the number of calendars you are returning and the exact cost of the postage to mail them to me. I will paypal or money order the money back to you immediatly. please send them regular mail and declare on the customs form that it is "printed Calendar" with a value of $5 so I only have to pay the 14% tax on that amount.

don't feel like you are sticking me with these or that I am unhappy in any way.... they will sell... its all good :)

:tu: :tu::tu: GREAT effort you put into this project!!! i think overall the calendar looks fabulous! i did noticed some pictures were cropped when we received the calendars. there may be some slight details that we overlooked and i feel for those whose pictures were cropped. :( but we all learn from past experiences and this can only make our next calendar/ project a better one!!!

i think some of the suggestions brought up by DC (Dreamcast) and Norm & Pat can be considered in our next calendar :

- borders can be added prior to uploading to Shutterfly for printing
- adding the names of the kats and their location in the pictures
- including the respective year on the front cover of the calendar

perhaps in our next project/ calendar, we can have more people to help in the project. for example : jimbo can manage the overall project, then someone else can manage the art direction and layout and someone else managing the $$$ and shipping! that way, we all share the workload. i will be most glad to be the 1st in line to volunteer for the next project!!!

i think the final product looks good and kudos to jimbo for the time and effort you've put into this! :bows
