Here's something I want to do one year - maybe next year??? I have looked at several routes but with this on starting in Texas, I am fairly interested. A few are several hundred miles less but I'd drive way more to get to the starting point.

Any body want to meet me for one or two legs of the trip if I do it?

or a guy on a bike in 10 days

I'd probably stretch it to 10 days averaging a little over 800 miles a day starting late afternoon on a Friday and ending on a Monday a week and a half later. I found a 7000 mile route that satrts in Maine and ends at the Four Corners but then I'd have to get to Maine and back home from the Four Corners so I might as well plan a route that stasts and ends at home. I would stay on Intyerstates as much as possible due to them being better roads, higher speed limits, passing lanes when behind slower traffic, availability of gas stations, rest stops hotels, and access to car repair if needed.

Rebecca wants me to wait until I retire and take a month, travel two lane roads, and she will go along. I like that idea but don't to wait that long. I'm gonn have fun planning it and stretch it out to 10-14 days and maybe throw in the
Pacific Coast Highway, Yellowstone, The Badlands and Black Hills, Tail of the Dragon etc. Maybe try for a feature crusie route each day or every other day and keep the driving to 7 AM to 7 PM. We'll see - I'm gonna do it, just not sureexactly when yet.

If u ever come out to SoCal and wanna exercise the SSR..there's also a stretch of flat and fat country road (no cops) that u can do 200mph for 5 mins in ur SSR...and oh..some serious hairpin canyon roads that someone on PT was doing 90mph in his 911 :eek2:

I think I'll rent a Corvette or Mustang GT500 from Hertz or maybe just a convertible of some kind. Why put 8000 miles on my own vehicel is less than 2 weeks -unless I buy back my ole Prowler :)

Hey Chromer - AMEN to that. I've got a major workload for the next 6 weeks then I will start my planning.

Marty, Rebecca's plan has a lot of merit to it. That's our plan when I retire.

But, if you do a 2 week trip, let us know. I would be in for that. I bet Larry Lord would also.

The idea of just getting all states in as quickly as possible though doesn't appeal at all.
