Kruisin Kat

I was out the other evening and decided to play a little on a few ramps to the highway. I had the kat in autostick mode. I just don't like the side to side action of the shifter, it's way to easy to click it to a lower gear when your hand is on the shifter when taking a right hand corner. I was accelerating in second around a ramp and all of a sudden bam! I'm in first bouncing off the rev limiter! I didn't even feel the shifter move.

Long story but, Has anyone else done this? I am going to look in the service manual and see if I can modify the shifter to need a more forceful input from the user before the downshift will happen.

If anyone has already done the modification, please let me know.

Keep us posted..happened to me once: was grabbing something from the passenger seat and somehow hit the shifter to N!!!! WTF!!! Was driving in the fast lane probably 90mph with crazy LA bumper to bumper traffic...

It's happened to me as well and wonder if other cars with similar transmissions (porsche, vette, whatever) have the same hair-trigger response. You know those little "+" amd "-" buttons? Too bad you just couldn't hit those to shift. Might be easier, especailly if you have a drink in the holder.
