This system keeps the oil & sludge from building up in your intake and filter, but still maintains the vacuum in the crankcase.

Installed on my 1997 Prowler:

Here is one set in the engine bay of a 1999-2002 Prowler. There is more room then on a 1997. The 1997 has dual throttle bodies.

Catch Can Prices:
$105 for the silver
+$20 for colors (blk, red, blue, purple)
+$20 for custom engraving.

Make sure you tell them what year, becuase the 1997 needs longer hoses. 1999-2002 require short hoses. These are the same catch cans used on all SRT8 models.
I will post more photos later. They also make billet cover for the oil cap, dip stick, power steering res, brake fluid res and soon they will fab one for washer fluid (it will cover the white plastic you can see)
Here is what one of the covers look like:

Some more pics:

I checked with Dean and he said that our Prowler's intake gets very dirt and he thought it was a good idea.

Here are some more photos of the billet catch can, power steering cap, brake fluid res cap and oil cap (they look even better in day light):

Same here. maybe we can get a group buy going? Also - how hard to unscrew the can based on where it landed in the engine compartment?

spoons

Unscrewing it easy. You should order one especially for your Charger. All the SRT8's I have seen around here have these catch cans.

Here is the catch can details for 1999-2002 Prowler.

I've had one on my Charger for about 1 year.. experience on that is can is full of sludge every 3k miles.. (To the top of can).. That is one important thing with these, can needs to be kept empty. Billet had talked about putting an eye glass on the catch can for fast visual..

hey now brian, i just put a catch can on my mr2 turbo, I paid like $20 with shipping so i think you got soaked. Its a ebay cheapo but does the trick and even has a sight glass. These cans are usually used on turbo and superchargered engines, stock motors shouldn't need them.................unless you have alot of blowby, and if thats the case, its time to rebuild.

Read this thread to see results on Mopar LX platform.. My charger had 3K miles when I installed, so the blowby is "as designed".. not wear and tear..

Well ,either the pictures are fake or the catch can is helpfull. If sludge is getting in there on relatively fresh engines, then what is there to debate?

wow, you guys are right again............ pcv's systems are stupid.........everyone get in on this group buy cause your gonna sludge your motors if you dont........right???

Don't get me wrong, I have no idea. I just saw the pics of sludge looking crap coming out of fresh motors, I thought. The canisters look kinda cool but I wouldn't do one unless it was helping somehow. So I say again, or those pics of that crap a real representation of crap that should be collected or are they not showing what it says they are showing?? The guys on the Charger forum seem like it is a no brainer cuz they SEE the crap. And Spoons says his catches the crap too. Are they kidding or overreacting or is it a good thing to have???

hey now, pcv system remove blowby and burns it. Catch cans are for racing or motors that produce much more blowby, ie supercharged or turbo. If your catch can is aluminum or any metal for that matter, you will not only get oil vaper, which is sucked out of your motor but you will add water from condensation, oil+water=sludge................and the can brian uses don't even have a sight glass and its way to expensive. heck you can make one for $5 worth of parts. But you should ask some of the car experts on this site. I'm just a tater from crackerswamp rd.................head tater but a tater none the less................

Fatman,

I spoke with Dean at ProwlerPRO and he thought the catch can was useful since our motors intake does get pretty dirty. Catch cans are not just for Turbo or SG motors; most of the Vipers & SRT8's (NA) found them usefull and fill them up every 3k miles.

I agree with you; you can fab one up yourself using rubber hose and an air compressor filter (shown below) for $20-50. I like the idea of being able to see the oil level, but the capacity is very limited which might mean you would have to empty every 500-1000 miles?
http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/productImages/300/12/12611901-cc42-4a9d-9d99-8121df88b5e3_300.jpg

I guess it comes down to preference. The air compressor filter will work, but the billet one looks cooler 8-)

The group cost is $300 which includes the catch can. The savings is over $100 because if you decide to buy the covers separately, it would be over $400. :tu:
