Maybe if Real Rod Bob has a set sitting on the self collecting a ton of dust maybe he might want to send me a pm?
I would really like the set that have the plate mount but I could always fab a plate mount.

KK: Are you talking about this?

We're planning to repaint the nose of the Orange and use the clear bra to protect it. Apparently, it goes under and cover the entire nose. In addition, I might have the installer install an additional layer of non-clear Orange cover underneath the nose...so 2 layers of protection. Have seen how they used BB guns to shot and these clear bras and I'm impressed.

DC, Yes that is what I'm looking for. Not for nose protection but because they look like bumpers.
Our state requires bumpers and front plates, these should fool just about anyone looking at the kat that they are bumpers. I think in NH it's a pet peeve of the cops on these two items!
I was thinking a set of custom brackets and a shortened 33-34 ford bumper might look good also (?).

I spoke to Bob at Real Rod about that . . .He needs to have a certain amount of pre-orders before he makes a new run. His foundry changed hands and the minimum number of castings increased to a point where it was too expensive for Bob to stock them. He's shipping me one of his cool shifter knobs next week and we were talking about the nose protectors, but I forgot what he told me about pre-orders. I'll call him and see how many of us need to sign up for him to move forward with a run. Maybe we can round up enough people who will commit to buying one so Bob will push forward with an order. I'll post his comments.
And, DC, I'm next in line behind you for the clear bra. I didn't realize the 3M stuff came in colors as well. That's even better, I'll do the same double thickness thing on mine. Heck, maybe on the rear pan as well, given my J-Lo esqe rear end seems to be dragging itself all over town! Please let me know when the pattern is done, then I'll call in and schedule an appointment for mine.

I'm looking into fabricating some tubular nerf bars.
Not sure about tube diameter and such yet but I'm going to play with a few designs and see if it's going to look right.
For the cost of buying a new set from Real Rod, I can buy alot of tubing and play until I come up with something nice.
Not sure if I'm going to do aluminum and polish them or steel and chrome them.

when i used to be into the metals business we used to sell an awesome 7/8" OD stainless steel ornamental tubing... it had a very nice finish..

Jim, I had to go out in the garage and tryout some 7/8 od conduit just to see how the size looked and how the radius of my bender fit the shape of the nose. I think it needs a bigger o.d., and my bender can't make a tight enough bend. It may be a good bracket to bolt some bumperette's (?) to.
My wheels are turning! I might find something that will look neat that wasn't designed for the application just like you did with your trans-cooler.
I'd still like the Real Rod ones if I can find a used set for sale sometime.

....gotta love inventing your own stuff...
that ornamental tubing comes in 1" and 1 1/4" as well.....
you can find some really cool chromed items in a Marine supply catalog, theres alot of stuff for boats that might be able to be modified to get something that you might be able to work with...
just an idea...

I haven't had much time to commit to making a set.
I tried some 3/4" to experiment on the look of the radius my bender makes, not tight enough to hug the nose to my liking.
I did see on a couple four-wheelers they had aftermarket protectors that gave me an idea to possibly retrofit one to the kat.
Wish I had the $$$ for a set from Real Rod though.
