Over the past couple of years, i have watched as several of you have bought new and/or additional cars to add to your stables.....it seems that the perenial favorites have been gt500's, vipers, and challengers.

So heres my question.. Assume you are going to add one vehicle to your collection in 2009?* What would it be?


For me...?????

Probably a newer 500sl as a daily driver. Great cars..

so what is yours??????

Mmhhh, can't really afford ANOTHER vehicle here but just a hypothetical it'd be a Challenger ...... probably .......... if I had TOO much money it would be an '09 Viper of course :lol:

Funny you should ask; lately I've ben looking at some "kit cars" and I know some people will think it's a bad idea but here are my thoughts.

1) Probably the most important I can't really afford a Ferrari, Lambo or the like.

2) Corvettes are a dime a dozen and the new Z06 is stupid expensive

3) We kicked the idea of buying a second Prowler at some point but then I saw this....

Uses C5 components (98-04) which as you can see from this ebay post currently going on is really not that expensive.

So my thoughts are these....

Everyone that sees the car thinks it's a 100K+

the kit is 19K plus a donor C5 for about 8K = 27K

and say I don't do the work at 60 dollars an hour x 300 hours =18K add that to the parts price and you have a 45K dollar car...that looks like a race car.

Also, toss in a dollar here or there for the motor work and supercharger and you would have a beast that not only look good but ran nice too....

ahhhhh..... it's so nice to dream....

i too have looked at the GTM as a project. I think it would be a lot of fun to put one together. you might check out fparts.com who specializes in gtm donor packages for about $5k. my problem is garage space, so once i get that dilema solved, i may be more serious about a GTM. I have simply seen too many way cool garages in the last year( TUIVC'S NURSING HOME AND KEN CARTERS SUPER GARAGE COME TO MIND) or so and now want to have a lot more room for toys.

I've seen GTM turnkey cars for sale from $75K for a base car to about $110K with all the bells & whistles. I read somewhere that a guy in Ohio had one built at a local hot rod shop for about $55K. I like them.

If I was buying a car in 2009 it would be either a Viper convertible or a Prowler. In 2010 I'd have to be looking a a new convertible Camaro also.

ED, your right about the 500 sl. We have one and it is a fine car, just love it. 2009 if we get another car it may be a ML or the new slk. What ever it will be a Mercedes.

I dont think I'll be getting another car. The E39 M5 is just fantastic in terms of practicality and fun to drive.

If I had to get a stable mate for it, then it'd be a Prowler (since I dont have one yet :( and prices are not shabby).

I know ferrari "purists" like the v12, but ive always thought this was one of ferraris most beautiful body styles. My wife went with me to look at this car here in chicago.....but if i got it, i would have to sell/trade the prowler. maybe by xmas??!!

You and I finally agree wholeheartedly with no ifs or buts. Ferrari V8s are nothing to scoff at, especially after some exhaust tuning. I love the F355. The only ferraris that I'd take over that one are the F50 and th 612 (and of course, some of the older ones like the Daytona and the like.

I drove by a dealer the other day that had 3 challengers. I saw one that was orange with an RT/ paint job. I didnt know they made an RT/ version. Looked pretty cool. Wasnt sure if this was a dealer add on or a stock car.
