Hi Folks,
As most of you know, I'm investigating into a clear bra for the kats. In the meantime, I've got a new project and would like to know the interests if ANY that folks would want IN on.
Basically, it is similar in idea to the deck trim:
http://www.theprowlerstore.com/Deck_T82.jpg
However, I don't want a permanent trim on the deck lid, but I REALLY want to protect the lid from the softtop and hardtop movements. This impact ALL prowlers as you can see on your own Kats.
As such, I thought, what better way than to custom cut some 3M clear bra and apply it to that area? its almost invisible, and its removable!
So the question is: Is there any interests for me to get more than 2 made? I'm getting a local professional clear bra installer to have it cut and installed. I can ask that more pieces be cut and you can have it installed at your local installer or by urself. Let me know. This will be done tomorow @ 3pm. I'm not sure of the cost, but hope it should not cost an arm/leg.

Count me in! (I'm embarrased to admit that I only need one. You see, I don't have a pride of cats like SOME people).
By the way, where's the guy located? I'd probably have him do mine since we live so close to each other.
Let me know how much and when. Thanks!
Scott

Scott: I'm going to the shop in N. Hollywood tomorrow afternoon. I will try to negotiate a deal for all 3 kats (2 + 1 of urs) including installation for the trunk lid bra. Some folks have asked about pricing for the custom cut trunk lid bra, and honestly, I don't know and the guy won't quote over the phone without seeing the kat. I'll ask for 5 extra sets when I get there if the price is not too crazy.
I'm also gonna ask him about a complete front end clear bra installation. Arnie not putting any $$$ into Cali roads has sent too many rocks flying from the cars/truck in front of me.

great idea,
I'm thinking about a custom airbrush paint job either this fall or next so I'll pass on the Bra... :burnout

So this is just for that piece that the other chrome one was ?? I'd be interested in it. My major question about these kind of items is what will it do as far as time and fading goes compared to the non-protected pieces.
I think the same think with like Jimbo's vinyls ... if he ever wanted to go back without (will never happen) I think he'd have ghost flames from the difference where the sun was - LOL.

It has been done yesterday. Prowltalk folks will get 10% discount in SoCal. I was the guinea pig and had to endure 2 tries to get it right and of course I had to pay full price.
Word of advice:
Don't do it if you have a black or white (well, there's only 1 white Prowler)...clear bras are not meant for them if you mind seeing the 'line'. Other colors such as silver, yellow, orange etc will do just fine.
I do like the protection it gave the lid. I decided to skip 3M and go with VentureShield to avoid the orange skin effect. Folks should decide base on their own preference. You do pay more for the 3M 'brand'. About 10~15%.
Cost: $95-10% for SoCal folks.
My hardtop came loose (pin came out...doh!)...and the top was shaking the whole trip to the Super Cars event and back...took the top off @ home..nadah..NOTHING on the clear bra..imagine if it was just the deck lid.
Pictures to follow tomorrow. Its late now

I'm almost thinking about that chrome one posted in the pic above. Anyone know where to get it and how they think it'll look? I'm getting about $4K worth of chrome from Gary hopefully this year - LOL. Going for a new front grill, headrest covers, and suspension/caliper setup. So I was thinking that chrome trim there might look pretty sharp.

Krzy: U can get it here:

I've seen it @ some Prowler events. I think its nice, but I prefer mods to be reversible. This one is permanent according to the description and when I last talked to an owner who had it done.

Yeah, I'm going to be buying their chrome fire extinguisher that I'll mount between my seats, but you know what bothers me a bit about that company ?? Is that they are the ones selling the A/C chrome grill treatment for now like $89 (was like $129). So if they do that on this one, what are their markups and quality on other items? They sell mudflaps and other in-stock mopar items for quite a bit more than we can get them for from other sources, so I just wonder.
Like I know a lot of people are high on their front suspension system, I haven't seen one so I can't say, but I'm afraid it is kinda cheesy compared to the overall appearance of our prowlers. (I'm going to spend the extra few $$ and do the chroming of the front end).
Hey - they're in Florida, maybe I can take a look at their products and get a better first hand experience for myself.

Krzy: Not sure of their store. For MOPAR parts, i only go with Randy. As for the chrome suspension. I saw it yesterday's on Sherman's Prowler (the clip ons right?). They look pretty good...might not be as good a real polished chrome, but for the price/effort, not too shabby at all. But that's just my opinion.
I didn't take pics of it, but if u're interested, I can PM u Sherman's contact info and you can check with him (he'll be glad to help).

Appreciate it dreamer, but No - I've seen the polished chrome one (I guess Carlini) and I kinda got my heart set on it. I know it's like an extra $1,000, but I'll be happy with it, and that's what counts.
I want to do it this summer, but with me already committing to my new grill and headrest covers, plus a PURPLE trailer in my garage that needs paint and wheels ... I think I'd be overextending myself both time wise and financially.

Hali: Yep, lotsa interesting stuff from the vendor. Good for folks like us who can't build their own stuff unlike you and Norm
Krzy:Absolutely correct! As long as u're happy..thats the key thingie.
Seems like a couple of folks are modding their Kat this summer..just remember to post pics! (or send them to Hali for the calendar)
