Question-- If you are doing a lot of highway driving and the highway is mostly flat, would you get better performace and gas milage in auto stick (forth gear ) instead of drive.I know you will bong down if you are going up hills or passing. I guess you would be in forth all the time no passing gear. All help would be welcomed. Thanks.

Not sure if this helps, but becuz the Kat only has 4 gears, I didn't like the cruise control's ability to shift....i felt it would give bad mileage, but doing the cross-country trip gave no difference in gas consumption between using cruise control or using manual feet/gas pedal control.

As for leaving it in 4th..I think as long as u're not trying to pass..the 4th gear should be better?

When I am on a long trip, I leave the kat in fourth gear, especially when pulling the trailer. It stops the transmission from downshifting on slight grades. Performance does lag a little bit, but there is better gas mileage. My gas mileage improves to about 22 miles per gallon when pulling the trailer.
