...... we were out cruising with a few Snakes yesterday and when almost home, the 'Low Tire' signal started coming on.

After pulling into the garage I heard a 'hissing' sound and noticed that the passenger rear tire must have a puncture and losing air noticeably :-?

Now here's my question - CAN Runflat Tires be 'fixed' (by plugging or whatever) ??

Thanks for any input ! :tu:

From the prowler service manual section 22-25, For proper repair, a radial tire must be removed from the wheel and repaired (patched) from the inside of the tire. Repairs should only be made if the defect, or puncture, is in the tread area of the tire. The tire should be replaced if the puncture is located in the sidewall.

Now that you know what the manual says, I would would probably go ahead and us a plug kit and plug the tire myself. Have plugged radial tires in the past successfully. Although if it's on the viper , I might us the factory reccomendations. jmo

sorry pepe, but the car is toast.... perhaps you should sell it to me at a DEEP discount so as not to put the kitty at risk by riding in a damaged vehicle...:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

Pep > quick fix > plug it. Later, if you want,,,,,have it repaired from the inside with proper patching. I have plugged my runflats a few times, with no problems. With your snake though,,,,I'd stay away from +130 mph speeds.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions - I guess I'll take off the wheel today and inspect the location of the puncture !

A normal person would be fine plugging that.

Speed demon that you are, especially with the Viper you may want to patch it.:biggrin::biggrin:

yes it can be.what you may run into,is different repair centers may refuse to fix it.each one has there own set of rules.your best bet is to go to checker or someplace similar and get one of those inexpensive flat repair kits,w,the gooey strips.fix it right on the car.i use 2 strips instead of one and works great.2 yrs since bolt in tread, all is fine.:-D
