.....the auto industry as we know it is gone for ever

...no more will we ba able to visit our local dealers and negotiate the best sale prices, choose from the latest selections or get our car serviced locally...many small town dealers are already gone and there will be a major exodus within the next few years ...our small town once had three Chrysler dealers, one Ford and one GM, now we have one Chrysler dealer hanging on by a thread after 100 years in business...neighboring towns have suffered the same loss of dealers sales and services

...in a few years, we will buy our cars online for set prices, paid in full at the time the car is ordered, , no discounts, no employee pricing, no salesman commission involved...a few cars will be on display at a small dealership showroom, but not for sale(no inventory)...when the ordered car is delivered to a "depot" at the closest large city, you will wait in line to pick up your car and hope it never needs any future repairs, because there will only be a few authorized warranty service dealers in your state and your service delay will be compounded by the fact you must deal with a telephone representative in another country, "for your convenience, we have installed an automated phone system, if you speak Spanish, press 1, if you speak French, press 2, if you speak English, press 3, if you speak Swahili press 4, if you speak .....blah, blah, blah"...the American consumer has seen the end of the good old days in the auto industry....betcha

...they will closely follow the path forged by the tobacco companies, the soft drink companies etc etc.....no people, no product support and no service

Did you recieve an email from them stating your account had been accessed by a third party today? Just curious as I did and I honestly can't remember ever creating one. Thanks.

You gotta watch out for emails warning you about paypal and bank accounts. They are phishing (yes, with ph) and dont even reply to those emails, not to mention click any of the links within them

As for the auto industry, I have to disagree. I think that, while many people see see car shopping as stressful, there is a huge number of people (myself included) who wants to feel the car before buying. Surely, if I was trying to buy a Prowler in another state, I'd have someone check it out first and so on, but I think i'd still make the trip out to check it out myself.

The same goes with online shopping. Surely some things are better (like electronics, etc), but some things, like clothes, are still being bought in person.

Things aren't the same anymore, but saying that auto dealerships will go extinct seems about as far fetched as the fully automated car.

No, there is another account linked to one of my email addresses.
The other account has none of my info linked to it, but it still troubles me.
They will not do anything about it. Came about from one of the various provider takeovers of internet providers.
