Summer's Best Carnaval Celebration At V-Town's Hot Wednesday Nights.

It's hometown celebration time! For the seventh year, Vallejo absolutely knows how to throw a street party where the upscale sophisticates dance and interact alongside the average folks. Whatever it is, this event attracts the fun types, young and old from every socio-economic background. It's a good 'ol USA fun fest with a touch of Caribbean carnaval and spiced with a barrio fiesta flair.

This widely-popular event encapsulates Vallejo's famed ethnic diversity, pride and community togetherness in action. The common denominators are the townfolk's having uninhibited fun, love to music, urge to dance and the desire to freely mingle with friends and newfound friends. The lively interaction surely motivates the regulars to show up week after week.

Presented by Vallejo Main Street, the 7th annual Wednesday Night Celebration starts this Wednesday evening from 4pm to 8:45 pm. This street fair runs through September 20. The venue is located on Georgia street from Mare Island Way to Sonoma Boulevard. The farmer's market starts at 4pm. The craft stalls, diverse food vendors, wine beer booths, remote control car track and GVRD's kids fun activities provide diversions for all.

The classic and show car aficionados will be able to peruse the plethora of hot rods, street machines and show cars. Napa Valley Cruisers, North Bay PTCruiser's, Miata, Corvette, Mustang and various car clubs participate regularly. A pimpin' Prowler appropriately licensed 222COOL, some cool 30's hot rods and muscle cars show up occasionally. It's a nice hangout for owners and onlookers to mingle.

Through the years, the main attraction seems to be the party bands who excite the festive crowd to a dance frenzy.

This Wednesday, wild party band Urban Bushmen will get the party started. Their funky-fied old and new school tunes will incite the boppin' action. This premier bay area and highly-demanded band get things rolling on the main stage from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Julie Brand and the All-stars play at the second stage from 6:30 until 8:45 p.m. Indeed, many bay area talented bands get attracted to fill the coveted spots.

Yes, there are two bandstands for the music & dance lovers. The scheduled Main stage/Second Stage performers are Zydeco Flames/L&BH Band 6/21, Doo Wah Riders/Who's Play'n Band 6/28. Raymond Victor Band/Steve Logoteta Jazz Group 7/5, Cheeseballs/Bob Kenny Band 7/12, Five Point-O/Sue Mac Soul Heaven Band 7/19, Sapo Guapo/The Cavaliers 7/26. See the web site for the August & September lineups.

Like last year, one of NorCal's best party band, Full Circle Review will again do the finale farewell celebration. Before an excited & frenzied crowd, they got the dance tunes going while doing their signature choreography. Dean Revelo, CJ Simbre, Lani Parker & Chris Dumandan do the vocal & dance moves while the band grooves the dance freaks to excitement.
